OK, let’s face it, when you think of Central Florida you think of Walt Disney World (WDW). Perhaps you think of Universal with its upcoming Harry Potter area. I bet you even know that Sea World is here - home to Shamu.
And admit it, when you think of this area, you always think everything in is Orlando.
Its not.
Back when I was a wee one, Kissimmee was known as the location of WDW & many of the Florida attractions people came to see. Over the years, as anyone who thinks of Illinois thinks of Chicago, California - think LA and New York State… well you get it, here in Florida, it became known for Orlando.
Yet not everything, heck not many of the attractions are really in Orlando.
From the things along the coasts, such as Kennedy Space Center & Busch Gardens to Medieval Times and WDW itself, these are attractions associated with Orlando but located in surrounding towns - such as Kissimmee.
Next time you visit, you’ll find yourself in Kissimmee often. This former cow town is home to route 192 - Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway - and will be the starting or pass thru point for much of what you do.
Be certain than to check out the Kissimmee Area Guide.

The Kissimmee Area Guide is a useful tool in helping you plan your next Central Florida Vacation
You can find a digital copy on the Kissimmee CVB - and even order one from them. Or you can possibly find them in your hotel or other brochure racks located throughout the area. One warning on this - we’ve been to numerous places & usually check the racks - we have not seen them everywhere.
Besides, by looking ahead of time, you assure yourself knowing where things are at in relation to your hotel - so do take a look or order before you arrive.
Its small - thin & the size of a brochure, with 60 or so pages of attractions, restaurants and show information.
