Penske Truck donates trucks to help in Haiti

As you know, when we moved to Florida we rented our truck from Penske & I have since developed a “tweep-ship” or friendship on Twitter with the good folks over there in their PR department.

I got an email today with their press release saying they’d donated a bunch of trucks to the relief efforts in Haiti. Thought that was a pretty darn decent thing for them to do, so I wanted to share the news with you.

As these weeks pass by and we hear less & less about the goings on in Haiti, we still know that so much is left to do, and so many people still need help.

Penske stepping up with these trucks, which are going to be used to get supplies where they are needed, just sounded like a cool thing to share. Getting supplies to those in need is a vital part of the rescue effort, and a part that haas been seriously hampered.

The $1 Million worth of trucks were given to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund with President Bill Clinton making these remarks -

“I’m pleased the Penske Corporation has stepped up to donate more than $1 million worth of trucks, which will be instrumental in mobilizing food and lifesaving supplies in Haiti,” President Clinton said. “Their generous contribution is an example of what the private sector can do to help Haiti rebuild and recover from the massive earthquake, and I’m grateful for their leadership.”

Chairman of Penske, Roger Penske also made remarks -

“The catastrophe that has struck Haiti is almost unimaginable,” said Roger Penske, Chairman of Penske Corporation. “These trucks will assist in the humanitarian relief efforts in Haiti by facilitating the distribution of critical supplies that will help ease the suffering of the Haitian people.”

Way to go Penske, Mr. Roger Penske & the whole Penske family for doing something that will so directly help these continued, vital efforts.
